pop3 connections from ovh-servern

Hey,
does anybody know why there are some machines like ns260xx.ovh.net that made pop3 connections to my server?
Some made only 2-5 connections. Other connected ever x minutes?
I looks like a portscan or a brute force attack. But for a brute force attack there are to few connections.
