Why has OVH self made Linux kernel ?

i know, but it won't work with all kernels with deactivated module support, not only on ovh's kernel

Thats not correct. If i install vmware on a Ubunt/Debian and Centos 4.6 and 5
I have to download some dependencies this works with a version of linux distribution you download. With ovh kernels i is not gonna work. try you will see

one kernel for all server models, so for compatibility reasons.

Hi all, Rootserver fans & ovh support,

Because ovh has self made Linux Kernel. It will give you some restrictions if you for example like to install vmware. So the question why ovh made self made kernel ?

Is it for more stable OS or security ? Who can tel me ?
